HEALING VIRTUES FROM HOLY COMMUNION

Faith comes from hearing and hearing the Word of God. We can take communion for healing when it is applied with faith.

(Psalm 105) The Israelites came out of Egypt with Silver and Gold and none were feeble amongst the 1-3 million. If they can have these blessings under the shadow, what of us who have the substance, the better covenant!

(Heb 11) Moses kept the Passover by faith. So it’s not just “take the communion for healing” but take it by faith.

(1Cor 11) The singular reason why there is sickness, weakness and death, implying that we shouldn’t be sick or weak or die.

“They partook unworthily, not discerning the Lord’s body”. We are not the ones who are unworthy, for Christ has made us worthy! The Lords supper is not what makes you sick and weak. We are already like that, just like the rest of the world. But we partake anyway.

How do we partake? It is by eating. It was by eating in the Garden of Eden that the curse came. If we eat of what done on another tree (Cross), we reverse the curse.

Communion is only a small piece of bread and small cup but can bring down a mighty curse and terrifying sickness.  God uses small or the weak things to confound the wise, e.g. David and Goliath. So don’t despise small things.

Medicine is good and we thank God for it, but it is from man, though communion is from God! Man has concluded from medicine the idea that Chinese medicine has, that if you take the part for the part, poison with poison, and venom for venom to cure your ailments. This idea came from the Passover. The Children of Israel were bitten by snakes in the wilderness, and when they looked at the bronze serpent, they were healed!

The bronze means judgment.

We need to see our sins, our sicknesses, the consequences of sin, poverty and death on Christ on the Cross. God punished Jesus. His judgment was on Him.

Though the Israelites were bitten by real snakes they had to look away. Our sicknesses etc are real, but we have to look away and look to Jesus. God cannot demand punishment from sin twice, on Jesus and on us! He would be unjust. Our substitute has taken our punishment.

The Passover lamb was not to be eaten raw. In many places in today’s Church the believers partake of communion and are still sick, because they fail to discern the Lord’s body. Don’t take the communion raw, e.g. baby Jesus or Christ before the Cross. We have to see Jesus punished for our sins taking all our infirmities.

(Isaiah 52:14, 53:2b) “Just as many were astonished at you, So His visage was marred more than any man, And His form more than the sons of men”….. “He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him.”

Darkness fell on the earth for 3 hours while Jesus was on the cross, not because there was an eclipse or a thunderstorm but because Jesus took so much sickness and judgment for mankind. He cried “I’m thirsty” because the hot anger and judgment was on Him. In Isaiah. 54 the Lord promises “I’ll never be angry with you anymore”.

We need to see Jesus smitten with our diseases and sicknesses when we eat the communion. Great testimonies come from those who believe what Jesus has purchased for us on the cross by taking the Holy Communion.

Man’s ways of healing are expensive and will always have side effects, if not now but later. But Jesus’ communion is free! Let’s not dispute what is free. Whenever we take communion we “proclaim the Lord’s death.” We bring the victories of the cross in every situation. E.g. a house oppressed by unclean spirits. The Israelites blew the rams horn for the victories because the ram represents the death of the ram. We proclaim the Lord’s death!

In the Passover they were told to eat the head. The head is a symbol of intellect and wisdom. We have the “mind of Christ”. Jesus retained everything in His mind even when He was 12 years old and quizzed by the Elders in the Synagogue. Adam’s mind before the fall was able to name and remember them all!

Just because we age we don’t have to be forgetful. Jesus has reversed the curse.

When the 2 disciples were on the road to Emmaus they were depressed. But when they partook of the breaking of bread with Jesus they’re eyes were open.

In Isaiah 52 the “chastisement for our peace” equates to our mental health. Our mental condition goes before our physical health. Stress is the first thing Jesus redeems us from in the Garden of Gethsemane. In the first garden in Eden the curse came for us to work with stress by the sweat of our brow, but in another garden, Jesus sweat blood! That blood cleanses us from that stress. Just like there are three stages that the olive is pressed to extract the oil, so Jesus was ‘pressed’ in the garden, the whipping post and the cross, each time extracting His precious blood that cleanses and heals.

In the Passover they were to eat the legs of the lamb. They weren’t used to walking long distances while as slaves in Egypt. The Bible says that when they left with all their possessions that there were none feeble. Jesus asked the lame man, “Do you want to be made whole”? Do we want to be made whole?

God also told them to eat the entrails or intestines. Whenever we are under stress our stomach and intestines are affected with ulcers and diarrhea etc. None of the children of Israel had diarrhea when they walked in the dessert because they took with them the cooked roasted lamb intestines.

We need to continue to partake of communion believing our whole body is being healed.

Mark “believe…you will receive”

We need to believe that God is healing us even if it is gradual.

This teaching was adapted from Pastor Joseph Prince of New Creation Church Singapore on the benefits of 'the Roasted Lamb'.
